Horror!

This year of 2009 has been a year of horror in the movie and tv industry.  With recent movies such as “Paranormal Activity”, “Zombieland”, “The Fourth Kind“, and tv shows like “Ghost Hunters” and “Ghost Adventures”, America has falled into a craze with the fascinatingly scary, bizarre, and paranormal.

I Think this fascination derives somewhat of this prediction that the world is going to end in 2012.  Recently a movie has been made that gives a scenario of what might happen on the day the Miyans predicted the earth was going to end.  People have lately been driven to understand more about the world, and more specifically what they don’t understand, which includes this area of the paranormal and predictions such as the ones made by Nostradamus.

Horror movies, although a recent raise in popularity, have been scaring people since the movie industry began.  Classic films such as “The Bids”, “The Shining”, and more recent but equally effectively horrific include “28 Weeks Later”, and “The Devils Rejects”.

I haven’t always been a fan or horror movies.  But what I can appreciate about them most now as I’m older is that there are only 2 types of horror movies.  Good ones, and bad ones.  And it’s easy to spot the bad ones.  A good horror movie takes a good plot and even better acting to relay the fear that people are feeling.
