Paranormal Activity Movie Review

Paranormal Activity, directed by Oren Peli, is a horrifying movie about a demon who haunts a suburban couple in the night with acts of trickery and violence.  Although this movie is low budget – about $11,000 low budget – it was an amazing movie that captures the audience with horrific acts of terror by a demon presence that has haunted Katie, played by Katie Featherston, for her entire life.  And now that she lives with her husband-to-be Micah, played by Micah Sloat, he decides to get these acts in the night on video.

The movie was filmed in director, writer, and editor Peli’s house by none other that Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat.  It may seem unnatrual to some but I feel it gives the movie a point of view most have never seen in a feature film before.

The movie is rated R and stars (besides Featherston and Sloat) only Mark Fredrichs, Amber Armstrong and Ashley Palmer.  The movie was produced by Jason Blum and Oren Peli and it is a Blumhouse Production.

On a more personal note, this movie was almost unwatchable in one sitting for me.  I know think that anything I hear in the night is a demon and will most likely continue to do so for weeks to come.  And it’s exactly that  right there that makes me enjoy this movie so much. 🙂
